Families in Focus June News

June 21, 2016 // famfocus //

Parent Network has now been launched in Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead and Watford. Lesley and Francine have been really pleased that each session is growing with more parents dropping in and always great to see parents who have been on our courses before and catching up with news from there families. Parents have already reported they enjoy meeting others who have children similar to their own and how talking openly without judgement is such a relief and gaining inspiration to have a go at new things and for others refresh things they have let slip.

This term the focus is all about anger and behaviour, understanding it and managing it better. Parents can drop into any session and of course it is free and Lesley and I deliver all the sessions.

We are planning to deliver training for parents in the autumn term 2016 for Parent Network Hosts and in 2017 for Parent Network Facilitators. The criteria to join our Parent Network Host and Facilitator Training have now been released and you can find out more information under the Parent Network heading.

We are feeling excited that Parent Network is successfully expanding to St Albans (6 sessions – evenings) and Hatfield (4 sessions – daytime)! These extra Parent Network support & learning groups are being funded by DSPL (Delivering Specialist Provision Locally) and we need your help to show that the Parent Network is needed in these areas – so drop in and join us so we can gain funding so you can continue to have Parent Network in St Albans and Hatfield!

We have Louise Helsdown a consultant occupational therapist who has extensive knowledge of sensory issues and delivers an interesting and informative Sensory workshop on July 7th 9.30-12.00 at Phoenix Centre The Hyde Stevenage free and exclusive to members of Parent Network. Bookings essential and currently just 10 places left.

If you haven’t been to a Parent Network session yet we are a friendly bunch and offer a warm welcome and hopefully learn something and feel supported too. Do drop in to any session to become a member then you will be eligible for our specialist workshops we would love to meet you.
