Newly diagnosed parents: Understanding the SEND world

A workshop for parents/grandparent/adoptive or foster carers caring for children and/or young people with autism, ADHD, any additional needs

Funded by DSPL Area 9 Supporting Families, Children & Young People in Watford, Three Rivers, Bushey and Radlett.  For parents of young people between 11 and 16 years

Stanborough Centre 609 St Albans Road, Watford WD25 9JL

18th November 10am to 12pm

As a parent we can often feel confused, overwhelmed and even intimidated when attending meetings with teachers, SENCO’s, Doctors and other education and healthcare professionals.  This workshop will give you knowledge, practical skills, insight into your/your child’s rights and techniques to be an assertive, confident, professional parent and enable you to work with other professionals so you can get the very best for your child and your family.

“I recently attended this workshop and learned so much. I now know who to contact for the extra support I need with my child’s EHC Plan and have strategies and techniques I feel confident in using when I attend the next meeting so can be assertive when speaking up for my child so he is more likely to get the support needed.”
